Life is a little different up here--
a view that has no end; no DSL, no cable, cell phones kinda function; dirt roads; plenty of space; no actual gardening, just find the plants that survive the conditions; a few good neighbors; wildlife up close; 25 minutes from the closest town--I would not want to live anywhere else.

That is such a beautiful image! You should definitely frame that and hang it in a prominent place.
Unfortunately, living in Michigan, I can't have any nice sentiments about ice right now...
If I lived in Mich., I too would not be happy with ice and snow now. However, living where I do, snow and ice is always a wonder and beautiful.
